About SeaQuarius Skincare - Our Journey

The Sea was my first love...

and my skin's best friend while swimming, in the ocean, off Miami, and the Florida Keys.  The seawater itself would be my companion, filled into a 2-liter Coke bottle and brought home.  Splish-splash on my face in the morning.  The natural chemistry of the seawater healed, soothed, and cleansed my teenage skin, but not for long, as seawater plucked from the ocean quickly goes bad.  Biological matter is in every single drop of seawater found anywhere in the world.  There seemed to be an opportunity to develop seawater-stable skincare products without altering the mineral nutrient-rich content.  The idea was shelved and occasionally flickered in my head for more than 20 years.

Ocean adventures included snorkeling, water skiing, fishing, and just relaxing, on and under the waves.  This interaction with natural seawater had a positive impact on my physical health plus mental outlook during these early years. The mineral-rich seawater of the Florida Keys imparted a healthy glow to my facial skin, cleared acne, and sped up the healing of cuts and scrapes.  These skin-loving sea minerals intrigued my curiosity, and the connection with the sea calmed my teenage demeanor.  Being a teenager in the 80's had its challenges, and the ocean was a blissful escape.

Throughout history, the Romans, Greeks, and countless Island cultures have used natural seawater for the healing and soothing it provides.  I experienced these skin benefits firsthand as well.  I would fill an empty two-liter Coke bottle with seawater from the Gulf Stream current offshore from the Florida Keys, bring this water home, and pour it over my head and face.  This was part of the morning shower routine.  The results, for my facial skin, were clear. The teenage acne lessened, and at the age of around seventeen, I was determined to one day share this special seawater.  The idea, however, was shelved for a quarter century...

25 years later, the business finally came to life.  In 2013, after many exhaustive years of focused seawater research, testing, fine-tuning, and formulating with natural seawater.  After working closely with Marine Biologists, Oceanographers, and Cosmetic Chemists, we brought the Sea Clean Foaming and Purifying Facial Wash to market. Our collaborative efforts have resulted in a unique skin care product. The Sea Clean incorporates a balanced sea mineral composition.  Sea Clean is pure, safe, and effective for cleansing, soothing, and achieving a better complexion.

During the early years of ingredient research, I discovered the ocean has hundreds of natural, health-promoting and beautifying compounds, to offer, in addition to seawater.  Nutrients in the form of Omega fatty acids, vitamins, amino acids, polysaccharides, plus additional natural compounds are extracted from specially selected seaweeds and microalgae.  These nutrients have a positive impact on our skin.
